Back in 1998, when Ruth Ann joined a beginning watercolor class, she forgot about time…totally absorbed in play…like a kid who forgot to go home for dinner. Today, she still feels that pull as a mixed media artist.
Ruth Ann’s work may include acrylic paints covered by oils, mixed with bee’s wax, papers, stamps and paste. She may carve or sand into the layers below and then rebuild. The artist is both fascinated and masterful in curating materials with subjects ranging from recognizable landscapes to totally abstracted spaces with hidden shapes.
The artists says, “I hope my work will inspire a memory of when you forgot to go home for dinner.”
Ruth Ann shows her work at Studios on High Gallery, 686 N. High St., Cols., OH and Bubbly Hall, 6065 Central College Rd., New Albany, OH
Many thanks go out to the Greater Columbus Arts Council for an Individual Artist Grant in 2023 to continue my work in mixed media.
GCAC your generous support of area artists makes central Ohio a great place to live, work, and create.
